Trump deflected having to explain #Covfefe by asking us to answer for him.
When Trump tweeted: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe,” early Wednesday morning, nobody could make heads or tails of the mysterious arrangement of letters in the last word.
Was the president walking and texting at 12:06 am when he suddenly face-planted into a wall?
Is ‘covfefe’ code for something sinister? Twitter had so many questions, and they’ve responded with their own explanations.
The mystery tweet, that was never attributed to as a typo, became a sensational joke that was deleted six hours later, but not before it ratcheted over 127,000 retweets and more than 162,000 likes.
In its place, however, the president reinforced the mystery further by challenging us to a game.
However, the tweet just discouraged some from playing along with the president’s reindeer games.
And there were those who were game for humoring Trump at taking sardonic guesses. The popular guess for #covfefe seemed to be coffee.
There was even a “Rosebud” reference from Citizen Kane’s huge revelation at the film’s conclusion.
He never promised he’d reveal the meaning of his typo. And what we’re left with are those obsessed with finding out the truth. Until the next puzzling tweet, anyway.
